Christmas Stories, Songs, and Characters: Microlearning with Sonlight

Who Was St. Nicholas?

Jesus tells us that it's more blessed to give than to receive. St. Nicholas lived that truth with his whole heart! He gave quietly, generously, and joyfully because he understood that giving is one of the clearest ways we reflect God's love.

When we choose to give, we are not just sharing things. We are showing people that they matter, that they are seen, and that God cares for them. St. Nicholas spent his life doing this. His legacy reminds us that generosity is not about the size of the gift but the love behind it.

As your family begins this Christmas Microlearning Series, take a moment to imagine how different the season could feel if we approached giving with the same eager love St. Nicholas did.

Today’s podcast explores the story of Nicholas of Myra, how his kindness shaped centuries of Christmas traditions, and how his example points us back to Christ. As you listen, notice the ways a generous heart can reflect the heart of Jesus.

Parent Note: We recommend that parent's listen to today's podcast episode before sharing it with children who still believe in Santa Claus. This lesson includes a brief reference to St. Nicholas that may reveal elements of the Santa tradition.
