Healthcare
Healthcare professionals at work
Imagine stepping into a busy hospital....monitors beep, nurses hurry past, and doctors work quickly to help their patients. Everywhere you look, healthcare heroes are hard at work — caring for people, solving problems, and saving lives. But not everyone wears a white coat! Some are nurses or doctors, others are speech pathologists, physical therapists, chaplains, or managers who keep everything running smoothly.
If you love the idea of helping people feel their best and making a difference, a career in healthcare could be an exciting path for you!
Parent Insight: According to the Mayo Clinic, healthcare careers are projected to grow by 16% through 2030, with 1.8 million job openings anticipated each year from 2022 to 2032.

Sheila

Medical Billing Technician for 12 Years

Medical billing technicians help hospitals and doctors’ offices handle the money side of healthcare. When you visit a doctor, they create a bill for the care you received. The medical billing specialist makes sure those bills are sent to insurance companies, paid correctly, and organized so the hospital runs smoothly. You can think of them as financial helpers who make sure doctors and nurses can focus on taking care of patients instead of paperwork.

Favorite Sonlight Product/Book: The Heartwood Hotel

Homeschooling?: Yes, she is homeschooling her daughter who is in the first grade now.

Favorite Part of the Job: She loves that she can work from home so she can be with her daughter while working.

Her Advice to Learners:
