Favorite Sonlight Product/Book: The Language Arts curriculum

Homeschooling?: Yes, his son Ben is being homeschooled with Sonlight now. 

Why He Became Interested in This Job: Initially, Zach wanted to direct films but quickly discovered that he didn't quite belong in that field. On a mission trip, he decided to combine his love of movies, filmmaking, and the arts with mission-minded video work.

Favorite Part of the Job: He enjoys visiting different cultures and working with non-profits and ministries as they serve others worldwide. 

Least Favorite Part of the Job: Zach believes a downside to his role is being away from his family often, not having enough time to work, and the lack of a steady paycheck. 

Skills Needed for Job:

💻 Technology skills, as knowing how to use video equipment and editing software is important. 

🗣️ Foreign language skills, as Zach uses Spanish quite a bit as he travels to countries that use the language.

His Advice for Aspiring Videographers:  Study films; don’t just watch movies—study them in all aspects. 

His Advice to All Learners: “Don't be afraid to trust the Lord. I have had many times when I have been scared or nervous as an independent [videographer] (and living in a foreign country - we live in Colombia), but if you feel that this is where the Lord is calling you, don't be afraid to step out in faith. As someone told us once, ‘faith is the opposite of fear.’"
